Hello. You may be wondering who the Verizon Foundation and the Pioneers are and what we do. The Verizon Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications Inc. The Pioneers is a network of volunteers that effect immediate, tangible change in the communities in which we live and work in partnership with our sponsors. Through the partnership that has been forged with the Verizon Foundation we help our local communities in many different ways and areas. With grants, fundraising, and volunteer work the Leatherstocking Club Pioneers, your local volunteers, we were able to provide help to area non-profit organizations such as:
• Volunteers paint the U.S. map at area school playgrounds

• Give E-911 demonstrations on purpose and proper use of emergency system
• Provide material assistance toRome Rescue Mission for daily operations
• Provide material assistance to Utica Rescue Mission for daily operations
• Provide backpacks filled with school supplies for children in our local elementary schools
• Procure and distribute dictionaries to local area school children and teachers - Material assistance to:

For 100 years the Pioneers have answered the call for help in the communities we live and work. How can we help you? Please call or fax us for a Grant/Aid/Assistance application.
So the next time you see a Pioneer function or fundraiser you will know that the work we do is to help us provide assistance for our local area communities.
